A woman living in the 200 block of Travis Place N.E. is thankful nobody was injured after an overnight shooting left a bullet hole in her kitchen wall.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she and her sister awoke to a loud noise around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The noise they heard was the sound of a bullet penetrating their kitchen wall before it pierced a cupboard, shattering a ceramic bowl and knocking a number of antique spoons off the wall in the process.

“I looked at the wall and thought, ‘oh, my God, it’s been shot’,” she said.

Calgary police say two men were attempting to break into a neighbour’s car and, when the resident tried to confront the men, they fired shots in their direction. Police have been unable to confirm what type of weapon was used.

The man who was shot at told Postmedia that shots penetrated his garage door and back deck, with more ricocheting off the door.
