A Thames Centre man faces a long list of charges after provincial police in Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties busted two people following a two-month investigation into a spree of vehicle thefts and property crimes in Southwestern Ontario.
The probe began in November and concluded Jan. 8 when OPP — with the help of London police officers — arrested two suspects in a London hotel room, OPP said Thursday.
Officers seized $70,000 worth of stolen property including two vehicles, dozens of stolen IDs, tools, wallets, 10 garage door openers and other items.
A 30-year-old Thames Centre man is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering, trespassing at night, possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime worth less than $5,000, theft of goods worth less than $5,000 and prohibited driving.
In total, he faces 38 counts stemming from 27 incidents in Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex counties, police said. He is in custody pending a court date.
A 24-year-old London woman also faces charges including possession of an identity document and possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. She has been released pending a court date.
